Just had new hydraulics installed on my 2002 sl500 and when i go
to put the top down pulling the red button back it hesitates at the
point when the tonneau cover is supposed to pop up and the red
lite starts blinking!!! if i let off the button and pull again it will
continue and complete the lowering of the top.. what's up with
this???? is it electrical or something?????? any idea????

Did you check the fluid level in the Hydraulic pump..may be low. Good Luck and Happy Motoring !!!

Welcome to the forum! There can be several reasons for the described behavior. Could you tell us which cylinders you had replaced? Maybe just the front lock cylinders?

Attached below is a diagram with the description and location of all the top cylinders in your car.

Do your windows automatically drop a little when you open the doors?
