turn signals

MY LEFT AND RIGHT TURN SIGNAL FLASH FAST AND "LAMP OUT" YELLOW LIGHT ON DASH ELUMINATES WHEN TURN SIGNALS EXECUTED. LAMP OUT YELLOW LIGHT ELUMINATES WHEN HEADLIGHTS TURNED ON. EMERGENCY FLASHERS WORK NORMAL. I HAVE CHANGED ALL TURN SIGNAL BULBS WITH MB BULBS.

THINKING MAYBE FLASHER PROBS, BUT MB SAYS THERE IS NO FLASHER, THERE IS A CONTROL UNIT ONLY.

outside light warning

Chetter: Had a problem with the warning light on my 94 sl320, could not find any reason for it until i followed the car at night, only half the tag was lighted. replaced the tag light and warning went out. However this did not affect the turn signal speed. Good luck.

I had a similar symptom when I had to replace my turn signal socket. I had the polarity of the wires wrong. Have you recently replaced the socket?

Have not replaced any sockets. Replaced all turn=signal bulbs with MB bulbs. It has been suggested that I check the "Lamp Control" unit located in a relay panel under hood, left side, behind the fuse panel. Also suggested that I coat the bulbs with dielclectric grease, which I have not done but will when I can find some. Thanks for your suggestions.

Turn signals

As of today..... 16 Feb 2014.... my turn signals continue to "quick flash" and the yellow "lamp out" dash light illuminates. Still need more advice.

Not sure if this is it, but try changing the fuse.

the Flasher, light control relay would be my bet. If memory serves it is not cheap, but once it starts to malfunction it does not repair itself!.
I remembered as above the foot well on the drivers side ( in Kansas )
Good luck

Quick Flash I removed the "LAMP CONTROL UNIT" several months past. It has many male pins protruding from it. They all looked good. I coated them with dialectric compou and sniffed it to see if I could determine if it had overheated ...... nothing! I would be interested to know if anyone has ever removed the cover to determine what caused the failure and if it is repairable.

I was a Navy aircraft electrician for 26 years in one capacity or the other and would love to learn the THEORY OF OPERATION and FUNCTIONALITY of the "Lamp Control Unit". The Benz service manager states "there is a light bulb not working somewhere in the car and it may not be in the turn-signals". The owners manual states " the EXTERIOR LAMP FAILURE INDICATOR LAMP" will come on: If an exterior lamp fails, the indicator lamp will come on only when that lamp is switched on. If a brake or turn signal lamp fails the lamp failure indicator will come on when applying the brake or actuating the turn signal and stay on until the engine is turned off.. I can turn on head lights, fog lights, trunk light, reading lights, open doors to actuate courtesy lights, and the LAMP OUT warning light does not illuminate. However, each and every time I actuate the turn-signals, left or right, the warning light illuminates and stays on until I turn the engine off. My previous post have described in detail all efforts I have made to solve this problem. Any help out there?
