First Owner, a country singer. 3 other owners. Rehab in 2000 from harness issues with 26,000 miles. No help from MB, other than a nice letter saying the problem is not a Benz problem!
Current owner obtained the car in 1999 driven for about 50K.
The Bose system is being rebuilt. Top Hydraulics via Klaus in 2012. Mods include cup holder, modern audio head unit, LED running lights and mirror turn indicator.
Hard top is on during January and February, RST is up only by weather miscalculation or wife demand!

Hello SRHsl600.
It's great to hear from you. You are the first to reply and I will remember that. My baby Lisa has just rolled over the 81,000 mile mark. I'm getting ready to replace all of her soft top cylinders, give her a four wheel alignment, new shoes and a tune-up. She has a big sister, Ava, a big, beautiful S500 saloon.
Got any pictures of your SL?

Second owner, purchased back in 2000 (?) with less than 9000km, and currently around 98,000km clocked.
Current condition is still outstanding, having gone thru most of the fixes.
Right now, the only couple of issues remaining, sagging ceiling cloth and bose stereo sound system showing occasional connection issue. Otherwise, the V12 is still very impressive, quiet and smooth as an electric car, yet powerful and an absolute delight to drive. I have owned earlier V8 SLs and AMGs, but the V12 is a different breed.

Hey Jimmy,
Yours is the first that I've seen with that front bumper. I bet that your car has that AMG styling that came out a year or two after mine. A single oval tailpipe? Side skirts that have beautiful curves?
Does she have a name?

JLC5, you are correct. The previous (original) owner refurbished the car with an AMG kit, which included bumpers, side skirts, exhaust mufflers, door skid plates, alloy wheels, and other items. I understand it cost him in the neighborhood of USD 20,000 ! He also changed the meter panel to a white one.
This is a 1997 exclusive model with the two tone leather seats. 1997 was the last year model for a 129 model V12 here in Japan via the official dealer, thus an exclusive version.

I was speaking with another person about how rare the SL600s appear to be...
I can only imagine how rare the SL600 Silver Arrows are. Do you have any ideas as to how few of them there are?

Actually he is a he. His name is Wilbur Silberpfeil - we usually just call
him Wilbur. Yes he has the Pano top, all SL600 Silver Arrows came with
the Pano top. I suppose it's possible that someone might have ordered
an option delete on the Pano top.
Also, no need for envy. All SL600s are special and if you have one you've
got something to feel really good about.

She's purring and ready to go.
Sorry I got Wilber's gender wrong. I'll remember now. It reminds me of a conversation that I had with one of my sisters about her VW with a manual transmission. We were on a long road trip when she told me that her car was also male. I told her that she'd have to change gears for the rest of the trip...
(That's in poor taste I know. Sorry)

Nothing wrong with a little poor taste, without humor life would be pretty dull.
By the way Wilbur is the German spelling not Wilber. If he could read he
probably wouldn't recognize the English spelling "Wilber" as referring to
himself.

Not sure about wiring! My path to modern phone et al. was a clarion pop screen with UBS and bluetooth connectivity. The system works great, however when a call comes in the music stops, and most often the calls I get are not a higher priority than a good violin or piano passage!

Hey JLC5,
You've mentioned a SUMMIT v12 website several times, how do you get
into it. I've tried and google comes up with all sorts of websites but
nothing about v12's. Is there some secret login? It'd be nice to check it
out. Let us know.

Hello robertstjo,
The SUMMIT forum is just a start-up site here on the MBWorld server.
I'm trying to get our V12 SL lovers together so that we can support one another just as the Brabus, AMG types and others do.
Don't be shocked! There are less than ten members but I'm working on it.
I know a gentleman that can get any part for your R129 in case you need anything and this is the sort of thing I'm hoping to foster - a family of owners that love their babies - share pictures, stories, help with fixes and share friendship.
Please feel free to join robertstjo.
Do your SUMMIT forum search here... Go to the Community pull down and select Social Groups.
Type in Summit in the search window and you should be able to see us.
Best wishes and thanks,
-jlc-

Hi JLC5,
Great to find that someone setting up a V12 (the MBworld - Beast Group)...
My Beast - production year 1992, and registered to our Land Transport Authority in 2003 with VIN WDB1290762F076254 (somehow could not decode the vin in vin decoder) ... all the years before registered it parked in one of the Brunei Royal family's garage.
He clocked 42000km and now working to repair the soft top actuators seals.
