Ive been away from the MBZ world for a little while but I think its time to re-enter. I am looking for a really clean late mode 500 Sport. Preferably 2000-2002. I'm interested in cars with light color exteriors and open to interior colors (NO paint or body work). Mileage under 75K would be nice but closer to 50K would be better (service history too). Two tops are a necessity!

I have noticed many for sale with a foggy soft top window and excessive drivers seat wear so finding a car with neither of those would be great. Please PM me if you know or see anything. Budget is not as much of an issue as condition and history is.

jdhertz11, I've owned two 2000 SL500. One triple black Sport that I bought with 35K and sold with 65K in 6/13 after six years of enjoyment.

I bought the next one with 49K miles in 7/13 with the Standard body style, black interior, with a silver exterior because I have found the silver car much easier to maintain than a black car. Please reconsider buying a car with the AMG enhancements. A front Tow Hook Cover could costs you $425.00 to replace and it is very difficult to find a front bumper that has not been damaged after 14 years. A new front bumper apron costs $1450.00 if you need to replace it.

IMO, a black 129 interior ages much better than a ash, java, or shell color that tend to show scuff marks and scratches. The lite colored interiors look all broken up with a medium gray dash, gray steering wheel, lite gray seats, a different colored carpets. The lite colored (ash, java, or shell) all show the same way. Multiple, patch like colors, all broken up throughout the interior vs. a consistent anthracite black rich looking interior with walnut burl wood accents.

there is a guy in portland oregon who picked up a deal on a 2001 with 27k miles..the car is super cherry and he got it from a retired couple in the area...my guess he paid 14-15k as asking was 17k. I saw it reposted on auto trader for 22k yesterday. I called him and he didnt know the diff between a m119 and m113 engine. **** me off that he is a flipper who got ahold of this.

I have found the new beta version of auto tempest to work well scanning CL in all regions as can put in search parameters now. It also gives you option of swtiching to auto trader ebay and others.
