1998 sl500 sport performance chip
Has anyone on this forum used the "PlugChip OBDII Plug-in Chip" from Engine Performance Chip (http://www.engineperformancechip.com...-chip-p-105)??
I'm always leery about the claims from these chip companies and would like to find someone who has actually used it and find out what, if any, the results were.
thanx

There is nothing that can be done through the OBD2 port on a '98 r129 that could possibly influence engine performance. The only active data terminal is pin 7, an ISO 9141-2 protocol K-line that provides only generic OBD2 PID (Parameter ID) data.
In fact the only pins even populated in the OBD2 connector are 4 and 5 (ground), 7 (K-line) and 16 (+12 V):
In viewing their website I find they claim to be able to perform this magic on '99 through '04 Mustangs--vehicles of which I have intimate knowledge regarding engine tuning and OBD2 interfacing, having designed tuning interfaces and software for same.
Complete BS...

Greatly appreciate the input. I'm somewhat knowledgeable on the OBDII connector and wasn't aware of anything being done thru it, but wasn't that sure. Just amazes me these companies make claims and doesn't seem to be anyone challenging them.

Good analysis. Unfortunately I'm sure people still buy that stuff and talk themselves into thinking it does some good.
