1995 SL500 Alpine Stereo problems/Replacement

I'm not finding any recent topics on this but has anyone dealt with the Alpine CM2294 Bose unit having issues? Sound quit coming out on the right side of the car. I found mixed reviews online about stereo repair companies so I called Alpine of America in California and they told me they could fix it. So, i sent it off and all they did was send it back saying it was not repairable due to age. Even though I told them the age of it before sending..

Can these stereos be repaired or do i need to replace? Has anyone dealt with any of the repair companies out there? Is there a unit that would be compatible with the existing speakers and Bose amp?

Thanks!

RadioMan in California rebuilt my bose controller ( a metal rectangular box that is bolted on the subwoofer, behind the driver seat ) during the systems last functions it could be silent, or loud pops or hiss. After the rebuild the sound output is wonderful. I no longer use the original head unit, but that too sounds better.
while I have moved on to a Clarion pop out screen with lots of add on stuff! I would not go down that path again. Too complicated and too many distractions for safe operations. But that is another story!

Moved onto a Becker Replacement

Thanks for the reply!! I have replaced my Alpine CM2294 with a Becker BE1492 and it seems to work fine but did not resolve my right side speaker problems. I'm guessing this means the Bose amplifier needs some work??

Bose Amp Rebuild fixed static in speakers.

After many years had the Bose amp rebuilt and it fixed any and all issues with the speakers. Just is case you think speakers or main unit is bad due to static, popping, crackling or just no sound at all - it was the amp. I would start there if you want to maintain original.
