Jeep, Harley and looking at some SL's
Exclamation Looking at 1995 SL320 need advice.

Here is the Specs
1995 SL320 65,000 miles
Black with light tan interior.
It was garage kept most of it's life I would be third owner.
Current owner purchased it in october from original owner.

Known Issues
The Bumpers need Paint.
Some Electrical Issues
You have to basically hotwire it under hood to engage starter.
Turn Key on everything works turn key to start and nothing.
I suspect the engine harness.

The Good
Interior in Great Shape Clean and someone took care of the leather.
Less than 70,000 miles.
Hard top seals and looks good inside and out.
Soft top functions 100% and looks like it was never used.
A/c and heat work
Radio Works
Gauges work no check engine lights.
Door locks a and all other features work correctly.
No severe body damage a few chips and door dings.
Lights and turn signals work.
All service records included nothing major done but i have not seen them.

I can get car for about 3-4k range

Is it worth it or should i pass and find something else.
I ran a pre carfax and it is not salvage or rebuilt title I have not paid for a full report yet.

95 SL 320
IMHO, etc.

1. Pay for a full report by an SL specialist.
2. INSIST on seeing all service records. If they're not there, walk away.
3. Adjust the price accordingly.
4. Read the SL Market Letter article called "SL320 - the Thinking Man's SL?"
5. BUY IT! I have a '95 with about the same mileage that I bought last year in Vancouver, Canada. Our prices are silly compared to yours and I paid C$12,500 plus taxes etc. Mine was/is pristine, and has AMG wheels, new brakes/tyres, and a 2-yr/25k kilometer warranty.
6. As a former racing driver, I was worried about the low power-to-weight ratio. However, I've had it a year and have only regretted the lack of power once - when climbing mountains at speed. It's my everyday driver and, apart from an initial few silly intermittent electrical issues that resolved themselves with use, it's run flawlessly.
7. I, too, am the third owner. They're great cars.
8. Invest 150 euro in an iron (not aluminum) Weichers strut brace. Best value mod you can do to the car. It sharpens the steering, stops scuttle shake, and and let's the suspension work properly. It also takes about 5 minutes to install!

Hope this helps, and best of luck! This forum is a great resource.
