Hi all,
Just bought a '96 SL500 Sport in Inferno red with parchment interior.
83,000 miles, runs excellent, everything works.Just needs a good buffing out and a good leather cleaning. My first Mercedes after owning an Infiniti G37 S Coupe, BMW M3...
I bought it 3 hours away from where I am and it's being delivered tomorrow.
I'm going to have lot's of questions. I like to work on my own cars.
The first thing I'm going to do is fix the wobbly rear view mirror. Probably really simple, but I'm sure someone here has had the same issue.
I'll search the forum, but if someone wants to chime in, I'd appreciate it.
Also, does anyone know where to source used parts? It's missing the passenger side front bumper gill (yes gill, not grill). $350 new. Ridiculous for a little frikkin' part.
Thanks.
Ron

I just did the mirror in my 94 SL320 it comes apart real easy, I just re glued the components back together and its like new again. These are hard to find and very expensive most used ones have some kind of issue so best to repair your own. I have restored my SL320 to new over a 1 year period well worth the effort.:-)

Congrats on your acquisition! You'll love the SL; a ton of fun. For your rear view mirror repairs, review this thread, beginning at post #5... https://mbworld.org/forums/sl-class-...tructions.html
I did a lot of work on my rear view mirror as, like you, I didn't want to spend a bazillion bucks for what could be a simple fix. Just go slow as you work with the mirror disassembly and reassembly.
Cheers,
Jeff
