What are causes of Limp Home Mode besides fuel system?

Can the failure of hydraulic suspension which allowed the front of my 1998 SL600 go down to the top of front tires??
Are is it that after I repaired the hydraulic control the brakes started sending alerts via light and bird cherp like sounds from the park brake release handle.
It is definetly in need of a brake job and have all the parts in and ready to replace. Im thinking that the engineers built in a safety mode to not let the computer "drive by wire" command the vehicle to drive anything but very slow and not up hill. HELP !!

LHM has several triggers that I have experienced ( there are probably more )
Brakes not functioning properly
Suspension and traction control not functioning properly
Wheel sensor reporting wheel size not within 2% cruise control won't engage
throttle body malfunction
ECU miss fire
Transmission lock up in a 2nd or 3rd shift point
wiring harness issues ( I suspect conflicting sensor reports )
Top not complete in cycle, and or roll bar deployment by irregular car body posture
The 600 has lots of special issues! welcome to the forum.
Where in the "world" are you??

Im in Baton Rouge, La.
The car needs brake job. It has displayed blinking lights and sounds of a bird chirp on the parking brake release. Not to mention I can hear some rotor to pad noise. I made a living selling and servicing Ammco brake lathes and Pro-Cut brake lathes, but I delayed this brake job till....well you know a shoemaker's kids needs shoes. LOL.
So, Im wondering if I should do the brake job and see what happens???
I did discover several brittle and broken plastic vacuum lines which after replacing eliminated the code for secondary air malfunction.
These later models of the R129 have no accelerator linkage (and is a "drive by wire" pioneer to the auto world) and I am wondering if the two throttle bodies have to be "relearned" via the Star equipment at dealership or independent Benz shop. If so, why or how did it unlearn its original commands between TB's and pedal??
