SL/R129: 96 SL500 replacing motor mounts

The procedure for replacing engine mounts requires some precarious raising up of the vehicle's engine in order to get at the mounts. I can't offer much insight about the replacement, despite having watched the job being done on my car.
One reminder I can offer is that you should avoid using the cheaper engine mounts on the market, since the original Mercedes OEM engine mounts contain a heavy grease that is essential for engine vibration dampening.
That fluid content is simply omitted in the cheaper engine mounts, so you wind up with a lot of engine vibration that would have been virtually eliminated if Mercedes parts or a recognized OEM version such as Lemforder, had been used.

Thank you to both of the replies and would agree I think I will leave this to the pros. Looking at some of the Google videos, it seems something easy to do while and at the same time, messing with lifting the engine had me concerned. thanks again

before I replaced my mounts I have read so much about how impossible it is to remove them, there is no room for the wrench etc etc, when I got to it, took me 20 min each side max
DO NOT ATTEMPT to remove the top bolt from the above, with few extensions, IT IS NOT HOW IT SHOULD BE DONE . you unscrew top bolt while lying underneat the car, there is more then enough room for a wrench. Make sure you undo the top bolt first, then 2 lower bolts throught the control arm, 20 min each side, good luck!
