Hi,
I am in the market for an SL500 years approximately 1995-2000. Is it possible and safe and legal to mount a child seat in the rear? I assume the roll bar would have to be up every time a child is in the seat. Thank you for your input

Thank you for your reply. What are the reasons for your opinion? With the roll bar, why would this car be any less safe for a rear child seat than any sedan? thank you

You could raise the roll bar whenever there is a child strapped into the back of your R129, so there is no chance it will deploy unexpectedly during the drive.

Frank is right that the SL is not a child-friendly design, but all the same there looks to be enough room for a child's car chair to be strapped in the back, despite there being no leg room to speak of.
