Crankshaft position sensor

I have a 1995 SL500 and the check engine light came on. Ran the codes and showed a bad crankshat position sensor. I replace the sensor however the check engine light keeps coming back showing crankshaft sensor. Any suggestions as to what the problem could be? The car runs great

Could be wire going to said sensor. Those SL's had engine wiring harness issues if I remember correctly, time to break out the volt meter. Also check that there isn't any oil leaking into the bell housing. If oil gets slung up to the sensor it will throw codes due to not being able to read the hall sensor.
