Oil grade question

I have another question about my SL 500. What is the current recommended oil grade? I live in Washington, D.C., and it is about 95 degrees here.

Thanks

20w50 for above freezing temps is what I go with. 10w30 for winter conditions.

A side question, were the synthetic oils recommended for the R129?

They were not recommended for the R129 but check with the local dealer to see if they have found something they recommend. It was my understanding that most of they synthetics reacted badly to some of the seals in the system and caused the lifetime of those parts to decrease but the formulations have changed over the years so I would check with MB to see if they recommend anything specific.

That being said, I know many have had good luck with Mobil 1 and such but I personally stick to non synthetic oils.
