Hood Insulator Pad Needs Replaced
Is there any aftermarket hood insulator pads that are more durable than the OEM style "foam" pads. Mine has completely rotted away and I think the P.O. had it replaced not long before I purchased the car in 2008. 1993 SL 600.

This company sells outstandingly durable material for sound and heat insulation in cars. I use this stuff on all my vehicles, and it makes them run eerily quiet.

Oddly the website link does not work, so run a google search on Dynamat Hood Liners, and find the page that way.

Utube video
There is a great youtube video on replacing the hood pad on this car. Just google it. I bought a new pad for $80.00 on ebay and a can of spray adhesive. Took 45 minures and it iooks/works great. Still looks new after 3 years.
