Correct engine oil for my 1991 300 SL
I am getting conflicted information regarding the correct engine oil for my '91 300SL. The One mechanic says that I should be using 20-50 conventional motor oil. The reason being that the older engines don't have the clearances/tolerences that the newer engines have.
The other mechanic says that the synthetic I have been using is fine and not to change back. Does anyone have any information that you can share with me?
Thank you,
Phil

Tip - sheet 223.2 list the engines. Once you find your engine there, it will give you classification number and later list of approved oils.
If I can't find vintage engine on the list, I just follow the recommendation for its younger brother.
