SL 600 & S 500

I have a 1999 SL600, I noticed a leak under the transmission, put the car on a lift to see the adapter plug was leaking on the transmission, lowered the car and when I started it, the engine ran rough and the BAS/ESP light were on, never had this problem before lifting the car. can someone tell me what would set this light?
