Sl 600 amg r129 '96 immobiliser
Dear All,
Been having trouble disengaging the immobiliser on my SL, I put the key in position 2 and hold the button on the fob down. Sometimes it seems to clear the problem and the car starts only to repeat the problem. It's all a bit hit and miss and makes it a pain if you drive it anywhere. So, I store it with the battery disconnected as I rarely drive it, this probably doesn't help. The rear view mirror is lose and some people tell me I should get a replacement as this is where the problem lies. Some people tell me it's an immobiliser that was fitted once it entered the country for insurance purposes. This I'm told is in the passenger footwell, see attachment. I've numbered various components in the picture. Is this right and if so which component should I look to replace?
Can anyone give me the definitive as to where I should start looking for a problem of this sort.
Thanks,
gav
