1998 SL 500 AMG package?

What can you tell me about this 39k mile SL 500? It is sort of customized, grille and lambo doors, has pano top with carrier, I'm an old car guy and don't see myself keeping it very long, only have a 15 mile drive to work daily.

1994 AMG E60 (W124); 1997 SL600; & few others that I cannot fit in here
55, if such amenities and modifications are things you long for, then no argument there. Not sure of the asking price but IMHO, this car seems way too individualized. So much so that if you are to keeping for long, you might ought to think of the near future selling time because I think you would have difficulties selling, most likely. If it were me and in your shoes, I would search for a more "normal" choice.

Good luck with your search.

Almost as much fun as the Lotus Elan M100, and a lot less work needed, this thing has been very modded, people say gullwing doors and it confuses me, these are called Diablo doors by the company or person that did it, the dash plate says CUSTOM DIABLO EDITION SL, MADE EXPRESSIVELY FOR E. F. MULLEN JR. The floor mats are also embroidered with SL500 AMG Custom Diablo Edition. Folder of receipts show work for several different items, a big list of parts involved in the conversion has hand written at the top SL 500 MB AMG Custom Sport Gullwing Edition. The list of parts used indicate a show car, looks like maybe a company called The GT Factory may have done the work, a copy of an article from Gofaster.com from 2004 was included that shows how to install the Diablo doors.

impressive work list much has noting to do with MB.
when I buy at auction I buy what I like, I have never felt connected to the future owner!
Many benz people are not in the "restomod" world, but with that said the list and photos may start some new "wants"
As a daily driver it would be a fun ride, but it will take a very special buyer to make it work as an investment in Kansas!
What price for such a creation?
This forum might give you insight in how expensive our toys can become!
Welcome to the forum and hope to see more photos.
In my world, yes to 55 Chevy restomods the three pointed star is not in the same world.

The driver's door sags when open but not raised, and is hard to lift, feels like it needs a new support spring, especially compared the passenger door, which is easy to lift and close. I do have a lot of receipts for work done over the years, driver's seat is worn to the foam on bolster as well as outside lower parts, so the custom tan/black seat covers are no where near original MB leather. It's missing the mirror except for the inner mount part, I rigged a temp mirror until I find one. I think I will play with it a while, but keep a for sale sign in it at work, I work where there is a lot of military student pilots, and a lot of them drive cars like this. I didn't see it with the hard top until it was delivered, I like it better than the soft top, will leave it on until next summer if I keep it.

Purchase price or selling price? I traded 3 classic project cars, a 61 Pontiac Catalina conv, a 62 Olds Starfire 2dr ht, and a 66 GTO. I'm beginning to think I didn't get a great deal, but am still happy, they all needed total restoration. If I sold it I would put it on Ebay for a 7 day appraisal/evaluation with a reserve of $19,000, some foreign student or a wealthy oil country royalty might like it and make me happier.

1997 MB SL600
Not that it matters, but there is nothing AMG about the car.

My car also has OEM 13 of the 24 listed "custom" features.

It's a regular SL500 with Sport bodywork and a pano top. I'm even a little dubious about the damaged front bumper cover hanging down on the driver's side being MB; as the "custom" fog lights make me think Duraflex. It doesn't even have xenon headlights. At least the original customizer could have sourced a real AMG muffler. If I didn't know better, I'd say that was a red painted regular ATE cast iron caliper peeking through the spokes on the front wheel. The 334mm front disc brakes absolutely fill the space behind the rims with very little gap.

My car has more genuine AMG and RENNtech parts on it, but I wouldn't have the gall to market it as such unless it had an honest to goodness AMG engine. Strangely though, I kind of like the saddle brown and black interior.
