Question Cloth speaker cover replacement???

I have a 2000 SL 500 and the cloth on the speakers have some small snags in them and I would like to replace them with a better material.

Do the door panels have to come off or do the speaker grills pop off?

Any tech write ups or what to look out for when removing?

PS > I am new to the board, from what I have seen LOOKS like a great place.

Welcome Kurt. The door panel has to be removed to take the speaker covers off. They are held to the door panels with circular clips that pop off.

Yes it is the same idea although different in appearance, in that the speaker grilles on pre- facelift cars are two separate units where the post 1996 cars are all in one. Door card removal is required.
