1995 SL600 Performance upgrades
Besides the 44,000 dollar Renn tech upgrade, what is available for the V-12? I have a 95 SL600 that needs more power. Has anyone tried the various chips available for this engine? How about an upgraded exhaust? I'd love a supercharger but I've never seen one for this car, and I don't know where you would put it anyway

After much research, I decided on the Renntech performance chip and intake kit. It was $2495, expensive but impressively engineered. I put it in myself using the excellent instructions. While I did not have it dyno'ed before and after, the increase in performance is in line with the manufacturers representation of 35HP. I also removed the resonator and added a magnaflow 3 inch muffler. It is a little loud, but it sounds like an Formula one car, and the performance has improved as well. I estimate another 15HP. If the traction control is disabled, it'll smoke the tires off the line. It feels much quicker than before. Anyone else tried other upgrades?

I had the RennTech Chips installed also, plus a custom exhaust. Could tell the difference with the chips but the twin exhaust tips coming from out of the bumper (cut out) where the best bet. BMWs and Porsches all slowed down and went by me really slow (I rarely punched it) waiting for a race.
