BAS / ESP Warning Light
We have just returned from a 2,500 Km (1,500 mile) road trip through the Rockey Mountains from Vancouver to Calgary and back.
Too bad that is was raining cats and dogs 50% of the time. Mostly on the way there, when we were most keen on enjoying the top down driving.
Lots of 120 to 150 Km/Hr (72 to 90 mph) driving in the wet and dry.
For the first time ever the BAS / ESP Warning Light came on only 10% into the trip.
This cuts the power back by a significant margin. It also causes a bit of concern with my wife because those wonderfull systems are not there working away in the back ground..
We stopped, turned the steering wheel lock to lock ... no change. We shut the car off then turned it back on ... the warning light went away and everthing was back to normal.
Over the trip this happenned at least six times. Mostly when driving in the wet at higher speeds on rough or curving roads. It did happen at least once in the dry at moderate speeds on rough and gently curving road.
Any one have this problem before? What was the fix?
We now have 62,000 Km (37,000 miles) on the car.
The "need for maintenance light" has not come on yet ... but it has been about 15,000 Km (9,000 miles) since the last maintenance. So this will be one of the items we bring to their attention.

The ABS/ASR unit in my car (1992) shuts down when the battry is week.
Just check your battery...
Hope this helps..
