I was a dope today

Today, I acted like a fool and left my lights on. For some reason the lights do not turn on automatically when it is a hazes or cloudy day. So I turn on my lights manually.

6 hours later my car door would not open, so I use the small key in my smart key. I press the button on the keyless go system to start the car, and it did not do anything. So I put the smart key in the ignition and my car started up. But on the display; it said "Consumer Electrons No” with a battery picture. So I drove it around on the interstate and my battery got charged

That is a good design. After I drove for 10 minutes, I stop the car and turn it back on and the display said” Consumer Electronics Online”

I did the same thing last week

I did exactly the same thing last week with the same results. Now we know why Mercedes puts two batteries in our cars and that we get something good for our $130 large.

I know on the E classes the photo cells senisitivity can be adjusted to make the lights come on sooner. You should check with your dealer..

Once again, you learn something new on the Forum, everyday ! I never knew that the photo cells were adjustable. My current car is better than my prior one, but I've always felt the lights didn't always come on at the "right" time. As much as I said I would never use the "always on" feature, I'm using it and liking it ! I've got my bi-xenons piercing through the daylight hours and already I'm seeing a reduction in being cut off by those errant "right-turn-on-red" drivers. I drive in urban areas, so the extra visibility is a real plus.

Today if one of those over cast winter days where you do not see the sun. TN state law requires you to have the lights on; on over cast days, or when it is raining, or when it is dark. I was surprised that my lights did not come on when I was using my wipers because it was raining today.

So I am just going to turn on my daytime driving lights and do not worry about the lights again.

I have attached a picture of an over cast day.

See Tigger's picture attached on his post above.

OK, we now need to undertand from everyone what their opinion is with respect to which way the car looks best with the top down.

Quote:
First question is roll bar up...or roll bar down?
I say down but would like everyones' opinion.

Quote:
The second question is windows up... or down?
I say windows down although I agree many times you need to keep them up if you are driving at high speeds or if it is cooler.

Quote:
Lastly, the third and final question is if the windows are up when the top is down, are just the two front windows up...or all four windows up.
I say all four windows up.

Looking forward to everyones' comments.

Like always, I agree with lovingsl600 I usually run with the rollbar down and if I will use the glasses, all four up.

I agree with lovinsl600: down, down and all 4 up, although with the snow depth around here my top's going to stay up for a while.

IMHO:
1. Roll bar down.

2. windows down

3. Just the front two up for me.

On a 38 degree day the roll bar does help by blocking some of the wind against your ears at speeds over 40 MPH.

I say put it all down and let your hair blow in the wind. What better way to drive down the coast?

Well I just got this one and I've been switching it up a little over the last week.

Here in SoCal it's been pretty warm, 70-80 degrees. I've kind of settled on the roll bar down and all four windows up as a rule. I think the rear 2 windows finish off the line...

And at night it keeps those chilly 55 degree nights at bay... Brrrrrr

Haha, just kidding with you guys in the colder areas.

You know, I thought I liked the car before I got it (had never driven one or even sat in one), but it's really growing on me now that I've been driving it more. It's a big change from the S class, although they do look good side by side in the garage... But how can I drive the old car now? It's just not as enjoyable...

When it's warm enough all windows and rollbar down. Bit cooler all windows up. Never thought about putting the bar up. Looks pretty good in Tiggerfink's photo so must try it and see how it looks in the flesh.
With the back windows down it looks as if bit's missing so don't like that.

Personally, I think the SL looks sportiest with the roll bar up and all four windows down...

Probably won't shock anyone....

I am a purist. If it's convertible and it's top down, then rollbar down,
all windows down. No other way. Between the heated seats and the
heated steering wheel...no problems.

My 2 cents, windows down + roll bar up = sportier look
