When SBC Recalls attack!
Had an interesting day yesterday. MBUSA sends me a letter last month stating that there is a recall on my SBC braking system. I bring it in yesterday, they keep the car for 8 hours. They don't give me a loaner because I didn't purchase the car there. I finally get the car at 18:00 and drive it home. I arrive at home, get out of the car and my beloved V12 is making strange noises under the hood. I get worried and shut her off for 1 minute and then start her up again. She continues to make the same noises and now there is smoke coming from underneath the hood I open up the hood and there is blue fluid spraying everywhere - the engine cover, the hood, the lights, me etc. At this point I am furious, I park the car and try to relax. I go out to have a few drinks with friends to blow off steam and eventually go to bed. I call a different dealer today and they knew that it was the SBC fluid and I should call Roadside and have it towed immediately. I called the dealer where I had it serviced and they didn't even know what the blue fluid was . Anyway that was my Friday, another fun day with a $100,000 Benz!

So sorry to hear this type of thing...Again!
Incompetence, collateral damage (make sure you washed that fluid off any painted surfaces inside and out) and lot's of aggravation...the wonderful world of MB service. Now don't you feel special you have a 600.... The sad part is nothing will be done to the tech that "worked" on your car and he's probably in the middle of butchering someone else's car!

hah, think thats bad?
I had my S600 in the shop not too long ago, whille working on
it, they managed to kill my battery because the idiot left the
ignition on over the weekend. They removed my battery to charge
it, and then gave me my car back. None of the airmatic equipment
worked when I got it back (locks, soft close doors, power trunk,
etc) So I had to take it back. I knew the problem because I took
it to my mechanic first, and he showed me how they smashed the
airmatic pump in the trunk when removing the battery. MB calls
me to tell me that the problem is two pumps that went out, and
they want $1800 plus labour for repairs. When I mentioned how
I had pictures of the damage they caused, they were very quick
to fix the problem. Still incompetent idiots, hence why I keep an
independant mechanic on standby to check their work.

Update
Got the car back today. What happened was that when the tech was doing the SBC recall he moved some hoses. When he was finished he forgot to re-route the coolant hose properly. The coolant hose was in the way of my engine fan and the rest is history. Coolant all over a $70,000 V12 engine with 6,000 miles on it . The dealer offered me a free "A" service and the service advisor seemed very concerned. I cleaned about 90% of the dried up coolant but there is still some in hard-to-reach areas . I hope this won't cause any future problems. Anyway, what can I do? Nothing son, nothing.

Holy sh*t. I feel your pain BiTurbo. They should certainly give you a full detail under the hood. On second thought, maybe you should stick to cleaning it up yourself.

i HATE HATE HATE dealerships!!! they get away with this kind of crap everyday. we need to make petitions against these dealers and get better compensation for it. i bet if enough people come together against some dealerships we can get MB to compensate big time. let's call channel 2 news and get that undercover guy to do an expose against MB dealerships!!
