On the SL550 or SL500 all the sport package contains are four AMG wheels and a body kit.

The one Im looking at is a 2003 SL500 with sport package. I just wanted to confirm what it is. So is the suspension different than the regular SL500 non sport? And what size rims should be on the car? 18" wheels? They are chrome but dont know the size on them. What type of wheels should they be? And so the body kit is different too than?

Thanks for the info.

The suspension is the same. All the R230's (except SL350 I think) have the ABC standard. The SL55 has some different parameters from what I've read about comparing the CL500 / CL600 to the CL55.

I assume it'd be the same wit the R230.

The rims are 18" in the sport package, I'm not sure what the width is.

The body kit should look the same as the SL55. Not the SL55 with 030 however.

Ricky, do you think the exhaust might be slightly different too? It seems the SL500 sport packages I have heard can sound pretty nice at lower RPM's....almost XLR'ish....while the regular SL500 doesn't sound that way?

I think the exhaust is the same as a SL500.No dual tip either.

The 07 SL550 sport package also comes with steering wheel paddle shifters. I don't think the previous models(03-06) had that available.

Hey were you the one with the hood paint chip? If so did you get that resolved?

I had the paint chip on my pass side door the day I came in to take delivery which was taken care off only to have one of the car jockeys scrape up the lower front valance afterward...that too was repainted.

All has been well since...thanks for asking.

If I wanted to put on the quad tip (SL55) exhaust, is there even an advantage to it? Also will it fit right on with the Sport Package or does the rear bumper have to be replaced as well?

I don't think there is any performance advantage with the SL55 quad tip exhaust but they definitely look nicer! You have to get the rear bumper from an SL55 as the sport pkg version isn't wide enough and will not work.

Yeah it does look nicer than the stock SL500 ones but if it doesnt do much improvement I dont know if its worth it. Im sure people with that exhaust are selling them for alot considering Im sure theres more people who want to do it. If Im going to spend the money Im better off buying an aftermarket system. Im guessing. Plus if I have to replace the rear bumper its going to add in pricing.

On the 2003 SL500 w/the SL2 "Sport" option the original tire and rim specs are:

"AMG ultrathin-spoke aluminum alloy wheels, 8.5Jx18 front and 9.5Jx18 rear. 255/40R 18 95W front and 285/35R 18 95W rear".
