Replacement grill for 2005 SL500

Will a 2007 SL500 front grill with 3 fins fit a 2005 SL500 with 4 fins? Thanks

You can make it fit but it will not fit perfectly.

The bottom mounts on the 3 fin will not reach the bumper; it is not long/deep enough to fit. There were many posts on this forum when the 2007's came out and a few people did get them installed but again not a perfect fit.

New grill for 2005 SL500

Howdy from Texas ... !
I replaced my front grill a couple of months ago. I went with a single bar, and think it turned it into an exotic beauty. (see image)
No prob with it fitting, and looking great. Feel free to email me with any questions: texastigers@gmail.com

That looks very nice but the one thing that I do not care for on the aftermarket single fin grills is the way the fins go downward or upward from the star emblem instead of being completely flat and horizontal. Take a look at the face lift grills and there is no slope to the fins.

I see what you mean, but I don't mind the slope you point out. Guess it's a personal preference. I was just looking for a more exotic look, and wanted to remove the conservative feel to the original.

Here's a before pic ... to me, I feel like I got a new car!

Just one more observation, looking at the original grill, those fins are sloping as well, but because there are four that are "relatively" parallel, they give more of a straight appearance.

They really can't be flat and straight across, because the grill is wider in the middle and narrower on the left & right side. Those fins hafta slope somewhat slightly up and/or down in order to have them evenly spaced when they reach the side.

Anyway, I love the new look.

Don't get me wrong, it looks much better than the stock 4 fin grill. Looks great on your car. Funny how something small makes you feel like your car has been totally made over. That is why the aftermarket guys love people like us

Love it! I was looking at the blackout single fin but I like the chrome you selected. Your SL is identical to mine save the rims (mine are 5 spoke but all chrome). Now I know exactly how it will look. Thanks for the pic.
Did you buy from 55tech?
