parktronic problem

my parktronic has just died....the on/off switch does not go on or go off.
it was always illuminated and reading the manual it says that it means the system is ON.
the display for front and rear dont activate..

i have check the fuses 26 and 68...all good.
i have taken off the front engine cover and inspected underneath and behind bumper as i just graced a parking curb recently.
i also took off the centre console and checked the switch for loose connection as i recently repaired my cupholder...
disconnected battery as well..nothing...

any thoughts...2005 sl500

pulled on some wires and connection under bumper..gave up...moved car and working..
went and checked it again in my garage and it is DEAD.

So must be a loose connection.

does a sensor loose connection kill the whole system or am i on the wrong track?

Hi Spikes....sorry I'm a newbie so can't help with this but you mentioned you recently repaired a cup holder.....one of mine is locked in...the right one, is it an easy fix?

Thanks in advance.

hey pete
you have to remove center console and 2 screws for the cupholder....i had to wedge the tray out as there are tabs in the way...it is not a big job though...my cupholders spring broke the plastic and would not open completely..
i would bash the side of the console with your fist as there are plastic slides that release when the cupholder is pushed back before release and these could be stuck.

I'm just a Mercedes newbie with a just bought 2010 GLK 350. I'm having parktronic problems which service is going to loo at next week (warranty). My manual says that when the indicator is showing a red light it's off.

When I start the car the light on the switch is off as the manual says it should be but in a few seconds 4 red lights come on on each parktronic screen then it sounds off, goes dead and the switch illuminates red.
