Two-Way Radios
In the owners manual for my 2003 SL500 there is a warning about not using a two-way radio inside the car if the radio is not connected to an outside antenna. The warning talks of messing up the computer system in the car.
Well, a cell phone is really a two-way radio.... Has anyone out there had any adverse impacts on the car from talking on an ordinary cell phone in the car. I'm not speaking of the phone system installed in the vehicle just one you carry with you all day.
Added on 3/27/14, I see that 85 people have seen my post but no one has commented. Haven't any of you used the telephone in a 230 model of the SL500. I really am concerned about using a telephone in the car with that warning in the Owners Manual of adverse effects.

Sent a request to MBUSA through the Owners section on the website and got a quick answer. Cell phone operation inside the vehicle on cell phones NOT connected to an outside antenna is OK. It must be a problem with higher powered two-way radios only...
