No easy IPOD solution for 2008 550sl??
Just sold my 2004 BMW convertible, and bought a 2008 550SL.
The BMW had an easy aftermarket solution, that plugged into to the harness for the 6 disc changer, went through a module the size of a pack of cards that was placed behind the glove box, and was able to be controlled by the stereo in the car. The actual ipod sat in a special cradle designed to give easy access and keep it charged, and replaced the ashtray. (which I realize isn't an option on this car, but there seem to be places you could plug place it like the glove box or the center console) You could change the type of music, or the artist, or leave in shuffle mode, either by using the stereo buttons or by using the steering wheel up and down buttons. I installed the whole thing myself in about 2 hours.
It NEVER crossed my mind that there was no solution like this for a Mercedes 550sl built in 2008. And before you tell me to search the forums, believe me. I've tried with frustrating results.
Can ANYONE PLEASE give me a solution other than an FM modulator, which really doesn't give you the fidelity I prefer, or the idea of burning a bunch of DVD's, which is why I have an ipod in the first place. I own 7,500 songs, And tend to switch between them constantly while driving.
HELP!!!!!

I just bought a 2008 SL600 and am in the same exact boat. My 2006 E55 had an iPod dongle that came out of the glove box, and granted it never got as loud as CDs, it was still there. I'm kind of bummed to say the least there's not even an AUX cable.
