SL/R230: Sprint booster

Hey, NY Lefty31, can you tell me where you found the connections for the SB? Were they under gas pedal or somewhere else? Bought a SB a few months ago and tried to remove gas pedal with no luck, gave up, but still want to install. Don't know if my 2005 is in same location as your 2009 though.

Take the 3 torque screws out to remove plastic covering above pedals and you will see wire harness above gas pedal. No need to remove gas pedal. The whole job should take you less then 15 minutes.

W211, W209, C219 and our 2003-6 R230 all have identical pedals. So search everywhere, not just for R230.
Absolutely the worst case - take it to your dealer. Doubt they'll charge more than $100. I think $100 is worth avoiding aggravation, if one is not sure. Installing SB in current pedals - R231, W212, C218, W204 etc. is a breeze with very basic tools, but not IMHO in our cars if you do not have right tools.

Wow, that was fast. I ordered one yesterday and it shows up before 9:30 this morning. I tried to install it, but since I am a grown-*** man it is impossible for me to get more than one arm into the footwell of my car. I ended up taking it to a local Euro auto place and paying them $80 to install it for me. Seems decent so far, but I cant really test it out since it is raining.

I installed mine in an 04 and it was not hard at all to put in. It fits in the connector right behind the top of the pedal.
There's a lot of room to get your hand in that area. Hardest part is just making sure you press the push in plug connector snap so as not to break the connector. Totally do able by a neophyte.
The instant response negates the DBW lag and makes the car feel much more lively

Thanks to both "nylefty31" and "Hary Gahtoe" for advising above on removing under driver's dash plastic covering. Yesterday I finally (after "holding" it for a year) installed SB into my 2003 SL500. I could not have done it without removing this panel. After removing the pedal only and installing SB (it took 5-10minutes), I spent next 30minutes or more trying to install pedal back in with SB attached - unsuccessfully. Removing the above mentioned paneling made it all work out well. Thank you both and to the post by "503C43 ////AMG" (recommending both panel and pedal removal) that I found in a search. Once again information posted on these MB forums proved to be invaluable.

Did those of you who installed a Sprintbooster in a Keyless Go vehicle, take any precautions i.e., disconnecting accessory battery, leaving door open for 5 minutes after turning ignition off, etc.?

I didn't take any precautions but the check engine light did come on. When I started the car in the morning, it was off and never came on again.

Thanks for everyone's input. Was not able to remove panel above gas pedal as the torx screws kept turning without loosening. Will take it to sn independent when I get my oil changed and ask them to install the unit.

If your Torx head screws spin without backing itself out then the metal clip is missing or slipped out of place and the screw is just hanging there. By carefully placing a small flat bladed screwdriver between the dash panel and the head of the screw you can carefully pull it back while undoing the screw.
It's easy to help the screw start backing out. After it starts, the threads on the plastic should do the rest
Good Luck
