Have you almost been run over?
Three times in the last two months, someone has almost run into me. On the freeway a truck changed lanes right on top of me and ran me off the road. Another time an SUV changes lanes and I had to slam on the brakes to avoid having them cut across the hood of my car. Yet another time, I'm making a left hand turn on a residential street and the car directly across the street makes a right hand turn straight into my lane and again I slam the brakes to avoid being hit.
Are the SL's so low that people can't see you? It isn't a small car.

When I had my SLK, this was an almost daily occurrence for me. San Francisco commute traffic sucks at best, and in a small car like the SLK, it seemd I was all but invisible to the larger vehicles (trucks, buses, SUVs).
But in the end it was another SL550 that did me in. It was coming from the opposite direction and made a left turn right in front of me. Closing speed was probably 45-50mph, and distance (when it turned) was the width of the intersection so there was no reaction time. The woman driving the SL claimed she never saw me.
My car was totaled, hers suffered lots of front end damage, but considering the cost of a 2013-2014 SLK, it was probably going to be repaired.

I am in research mode now for a HD dash cam. There is a lot to learn about; 1080p, GPS, G force sensor, Wi-Fi, park mode, heat tolerance, day or night, reliability, price and known issues.
