I did the same thing. LED's worked fine in the interior except the dome light and the license plate lights. Try rubbing the contacts with a little bit of sand paper and make sure they're tight. I tried a couple of different type bulbs but ended up with the same result. Went back to the originals which I could get working.

Hi guys, same here,Ihave a 2001 S500 and today I bought some LED's for the license plate and as soon as I put them in,they started flashing,it looked like a police car! Anyway I saw this video that this guy fixed that by adding an extra piece of wire to the light circuit (license plate) which is located by the trunk arm on the left side,he said that with time those wires wears out and provokes a short circuit on the lamps,I'm going to play with that tomorrow and I'll let you know how did it go.

Well my friends I ended up putting the originals back in and just cleaned the hell out of the light covers and bought new lights bulbs..but it's nothing like having the LED's thou. Its all good thou..
trying to figure out what to do next now. I was thinking maybe the lambo doors..
