SL/R230: Trunk will not unlock with the mechanical Key

Trunk will not unlock with the mechanical Key
Can not check to see if is a fuse is blown or the pump is bad,but the mechanical key will not work have done everything that the Mercedes manual tells me to do. Does anyone know how I can open the trunk.

Just turn the key to the left and when you're holding the key to the left, use the other hand to pull the trunk latch handle.
That should open it.
