SL55 AMG CV Joints
Help!
Outer CV boots split both sides.
I've removed the axle shafts to change the boots.
The joints were full of grease and no was wear.
The shafts and CV joints should be re-usable.
Tried to drive the CV joint off the shaft but it clearly doesn't come off that way.
The CV joints are inside metal cans.
There must be a circlip inside each can.
Looks like the cans are in two parts but I can't see how to separate them.
The inner half is aluminium so soft and easily damaged.
(Beginning to feel that Mercedes badly want to sell me the $1,000 shaft).
Any advice on splitting and refitting the cans?
