tire pressure submenu no pressures

have a 2003 sl500 and when I go to the tire pressure submenu it won't show any pressures for the 4 tire positions. I had a flat tire and took the wheel off the car to get it fixed. Before taking it off the system worked fine and showed all four tire pressures. It is not the tire pressure sensors in the valve stems. I have reset the system multiple times and driven the car 10-15 miles after each reset and it still doesn't load the tire pressures. Any help or insight would be appreciated.

the 03s have a notoriously overly complicated TPMS that fails. If resetting the menu in the dash doesn't work then you're gonna need to hook up a star tool so that it can run a diagnostic to see if all of the sensors and all of the antennas are working properly. I'm waiting for a star tool to do this exact thing on mine. On mine it won't display the values after reset even after driving for 10-15 minutes. It also is now occasionally bringing up a visit workshop message for the TPMS. If you want to get rid of the menu that shows the tire pressure values & TPMS warning messages (if they start appearing) you can easily disable it with a STAR tool too by recoding the car to tell it that it doesn't have the system. I wish there was some other answer, but like I said the 03s have an overly complex system compared to later years and the only way to diagnose it if the reset isn't working is with a STAR tool

thanks but isn't a STAR tool expensive

I thought I read somewhere that the StAR tool is like 5k or more. is that true?

you can get a chinese clone for less than $1,000. It would also let you do developer mode, which lets you program and do things that even the dealer can't do. I bought one from Shardul here on the forum. He sells them totally setup and ready to go. You could PM him and get an exact shipped price. Given what they can do, they are a bargain compared to having to take it to the dealer...

Did you get your issue resolved? If yes, how?

This thread, and my recent post, shows that it may take up to an hour for the TPMS system to learn the changes. I don't necessarily buy it.

I think you have to drive 10-15 minutes without going below 10-15 mph in order for it to reset.
