R230 roof problem
Alright guys. The car is 2003 sl55 with approx 103k miles. I can't get the stupid roof to open. It had been working just fine and 2 days ago just refused to open.
The flaps are not sagging.
No apparent oil leak.
Battery is in good condition.
PSE pump works.
Changed all the brake pads with the battery disconnected a few days prior but I had used it just fine for a some days after the pad change.
With the switch pressed to open, I can hear the roof "unlock" over the driver's head and all the windows roll down slightly. Then, the trunk lid opens a few inches and stops, more so on the passenger side. it appears that something is not letting go of it. When I press it to close, it closes fine with confirmation in the dash.
Here's the video.
Thx in advance.

Search for a file: "Vario Roof Diagnostic Aid" and start there.
Wish I knew where to start.

BEFORE YOU GO CRAZY SEE IF THE ROOF PUMP HAS WATER DAMGAGE , ITS COMMON THE REAR WINDOW SEAL FAILS AND WATER LEAKS ON TO PUMP....ITS WORTH A LOOK BEFORE GETTING INTO FURTHER DIAGNOSTICS .....

How did you identify that particular strut as the root of your troubles? And which one is it? Thanks for the post and the pic.
