Evaporator temperature sensor location

Been searching and can't find the location of the evaporator temperature sensor for a 2004 r230. Mine is reading like -28c or something like that, and I read that it would not turn he compressor on at that temp for fear of freezing. I have a new one, and can't seem to find out how to get to it.

Evaporator Temperature sensor location

Drop drivers panel above your legs by removing 3 torx from panel and two from OBDII. Disconnect light from panel and obdII harness by sliding connector back. Temp sensor is located above door actuator on the evaporator housing. Pulls right out, no screws or clips

Unsure, I only work on R230's.
Would not hurt to look there first though.

temperature evaporator sensor location

I have a 2003 mercedes SL55 AMG and I'm trying to locate the location of the temperature evaporator sensor. I have pulled down the panel casing under the steering wheel but don't see it. Any idea where it is located.

It is on the black plastic evaporator box(gas pedal side) about 2/3 of way up . Look for two small wires going into connector. When you find it just pull the whole thing out, no need to disconnect plug.

No need to remove carpet. It is closer to radio cluster than gas pedal. It is almost at the very top where you can reach. Best if you lay upside down on seat and look up.

Lay upside down, rearend on seat, legs over back of seat, top down. With left hand next to your chest, raise your hand up and you should run into it. I would take pics but my wife has car out of town.

can you actually see it or do you have to put your hand up under the panel and feel for it? I have laid on my back on the floor of the car on the driver side and put a flashlight up under the panel but I did not see anything that looked like the sensor.

You can see it, it is only the back of sensor with two small wires going into it. Most of the sensor is inside the evap box.

Thanks for the reply, and the help, here is a picture of the wires running to the sensor. It is directly above he gas pedal, hidden by the heater box servo. The routing of your wires will not be he same, as I had my wiring harness out, and incorrectly routed this section of wiring. This is why I had an extra plug that I didn't know where it went, guess what it went to the Evap temp sensor. It is the two wire bundle thanks again

This is a picture looking up from the carpet right by the gas pedal

Maybe a dumb question but how do you know what temperature it is reading (-28c)? Just curious because I would like to know what mine is reading.

The absolute least expensive way is to buy the multiplexer from a Chinese seller for about $200-$250, then get a copy of the software which can be obtain for free or very little cost. This will require some pretty good computer skills to install for yourself, and lots of trial and error and Internet searches to learn what you need to get it running. For around $500-$700, you can get a pre-installed virtualized version (usese VMware player) wit everything configured and a multiplexer. Just remember, this is all Chinese clone stuff, so quality will vary and not always a direct relationship to price paid.
