Opening and closing of hardtop with remote?
I've got a buddy with an SL600 and at a recent meet someone had a convertible in which he had installed some sort of module that allowed him to open the hardtop roof with his remote. My friend with the SL600 wants to buy one of these and I can't remember what they are called (or I would have searched for it here). Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Isn't called your key? Just point the IR end of it at the IR window on the outside door handle. Push and hold "unlock" until the top is completely down, or "lock" until it is all the way up.

Althought the sarcasm was meant in humor, there are modules like the one in my SLK which allow you to operate the Vario roof using your key without keeping it pointed at the car with the unlock/lock button pressed constantly.
I belive there are people working on that at the moment.
Cheers!

lowering the roof with the remote is not possible if you have specified keyless go.

I contacted the people who make the module for the slk, which allows the remote (the rf part) to lower the top, and it does a one-touch up and one-touch down.
Their part does not work on the SL...
darn.

2004 SL 600 with Keyless Go
The key works like a champ. You have to hold it down the entire time (16 seconds), and it must have line of sight to the IR receiver in the door handle, but it works. Hold down unlock to open and hold down lock to close. If you stop holding down the button midway it stops and the car beeps at you (caution something or other), but if you hold it down again it starts back up and continues.
Now if only there was a way to do it with one touch !!
Thanks for the info everyone! My friend said "I don't know how you figure this stuff out...." I gave all of you credit of course.

I have Keyless Go on my '04 and have no trouble raising/lowering the top using the remote. As others mentioned, you just have to be close enough to the door for it to work.
