Magnetic Particle Filter For ABC System...
I flushed the ABC system on my 2008 SL550 yesterday and installed both the 3 micron filter in the reservioir and a inline magnetic filter on the return line.
(1) Has anyone dismantled one of these magnetic filters after many miles of use to see if they are really collecting metal particles? I know the particles are microscopic but wonder if the filter is worth the time and money to install.
(2) Leaving the return hose with the addition of the magnetic filt causes a flattening restriction in the hose. The system appears to run just fine but has anyone found a solution to keep the hose round at the sharp curve? I added a extra hose clamp at the curve which helps somewhat but wonder if there is something better. Thanks...

many of the parts in the system are made out of aluminum, which is not magnetic. I'm sure it helps some. Given that a magnetic trans filter is < $20, its still likely worth the insurance.
