Do the SL65 Sparks need to be gapped ?

So I installed SL65 spark plugs NGK G-Power Plug Spark 24 of them! I didnt gap them, do they come already gapped ? or do they require gapping to a certain spec?

EVERY spark plug should be checked for gap before install.

Are you trying to see if the plugs corrects your tune issue?

Definitely yes (learned the hard way). I fitted up-gapped plugs to mine and it miss-fired. I had to remove them all and re-gap them. Mine came with 1.0mm gaps, which is what the NA engine uses. Turbos have to be gapped to 0.7mm.

Yours may have come with the right gap, but I would find out for sure.

No I did this just as part of servicing a week before the tune

I use either NGK IFR6Q-G

http://www.ngkpartfinder.co.uk/car_c...ra.php?id=8319

or Bosch FR 7 KI 332 S (0.7mm)

http://www.bosch-automotive-catalog....3FautoLoad%3D1

You will often see the FR 7 KPP 33 U+ listed (1.0mm), but this is for the NA engine:

OK, but they've got to be the right part number. NGK do say you shouldn't re-gap plugs because is changes the geometry and durability of the spark gap.

Vendors often get it wrong. For example, my reputable local motor factor told me the right plugs were FR7KPP33U+.

Well there are four types of NGK plugs you can go with depending on your choices. All are compatible with our vehicles

turned out to be a bad coil pack in the end, spark plugs are completely compatible with our cars and work just fine if not better! never listen to naysayers!!
