2007 Comand System not responding
I had an 07 SL550 delivered to Nashville today via transport carrier. NEW TO ME!!!! When the car was unloaded the message center has a message that some settings were unavailable, I thought from being towed? After driving the car for a while the Command System act's like it stuck. It won't change from the FM to Satellite or Navigation. The steering wheel controls will seek a different station and or change the volume, but the source for CD, Nav, or Disc is unresponsive.
The power button on the Command Unit will not turn it off or on.
Any ideas???

Yes. Happened in 2 short trips around town. Should I check the battery in the trunk ? Pictures of car from lot showed nav operational. I am sure it's been sitting for a month or more. Started fine and didn't act like the battery was low.

In case you're not aware this car has two batteries - one upfront for car starting. That one can last months without charging. The second one is located in the trunk, called convenience battery (?). That one usually doesn't hold the charge more than 2-3 weeks max due to all kind of systems. It's responsible for almost everything else what's not needed to run the car. If it's low the radio won't work (most obvious for me) and whole other systems. If it's something more complicated than that you'll need to have your car scanned for Fault Codes. Have them erased, drive a little and then read again, that should give you a start
Or someone more experienced had same problem and will reply with an easy solve

Charged the convienece battery today and still have an issue. So the head unit won't respond to any of the buttons on the unit and or turn off using the power button. No nav, and no Sirius, or CD functions, it acts like it's stuck on the FM source. The steering wheel functions can change the channel and adjust the volume. I pulled the command fuse and even removed the convienece battery while it was brought back to 13.5 volts.
Any body experienced this issue? Or something similar?

Since charging the battery didn't resolve the problem, maybe you should disconnect both batteries for 30 minutes or so, hook them back up, and try again. If that doesn't clear the problems, you need to plug the car into an SDS system for a thorough analysis.

Sticky buttons theory on the head unit. Apparently previous owner spilled something. I used some contact electrical cleaner and electrical lubricant sparingly, at least the buttons are starting to act semi normal. Now I can switch between sources but the Sirius is stuck on the comedy category. The last 3 of the phone buttons are still stuck down also. I guess I need to pull the head unit and take the front off to see what's going on.
Damn sticky buttons!!!
