Nearly new '09 SL600

Brought home my 2009 SL600 with only 3,355 miles, paid $57K plus tax and BS fees. Car is in show room condition, with built in K40 Radar System.

I'm looking forward to learning all I can with this model.

Wow, someone really took it on the depreciation. You got a new $150k+ for 1/3 of the price.

Yes I know, I couldn't pass on this one. I believe he spent more on the gas guzzler tax than he did on the actual cost of fuel.

I never purchased a used car this old in this pristine condition. It's almost a shame to put miles on it.

Excellent deal. ENJOY. Obviously the previous owner bought the car just to park it in his garage.

It's going to depreciate fast if you drive or not so you might as well get the use out of it.

USAA has a good warranty for these if you are a member. It doesn't cover the convertable top but it covers everything else.

The warranty is expensive but the maintenance and repairs are even more expensive on these cars.

Agree. Car isn't expensive. Wait until the maintenance and repairs come.

They are getting dirt cheap. Carmax has one for $50k.

I was looking at a 2009 SL600 as well but am tending toward a 2013 SL550 as it is cheaper, faster, lighter (all aluminum), and light years ahead as it is an all new car (engine, interior, top, moon roof), etc. The 2013 exterior design, however, leaves something to be desired. The 600 has the 12 cylinder cache, but that comes with significant costs to maintain and repair. And the US, unfortunately, is not really suited for a 12 cyl car as there are few roads to wring it out.

You may want to check your stats. The 600 is quite a bit quicker. Add a tune to the 600 and you won't even be in the same zip code and then there are even more options like larger intercoolers, big turbos, ETC, ETC. If fast is what you are going for, you need to choose the 600. Yes, the 2013 sl550 is newer and has better electronics with an outstanding transmission but the looks are rather bland. It's really the headlight design that makes it look bad. I like everything else.

Now, if the choice was between a new 600 or 63, I'd take the 63. There is just so much available to make the biturbo 63 so much quicker for far less than the 600.

Haha, that is a famous C&D misprint. Read the comments on that page. The SL550 is faster.

It wasn't a misprint. It was a measured test but rumor was that it had a Renntech tune: however, the Renntech tuned cars go 11.5 at 125 mph all day long at the track. It's not far off times some posted as stock and not nearly as quick as some of the tuned SL's. There are some stock 600's that produce freakishly high dynos. If you get a 550, don't be surprised if you see the taillights of the 600.

Here are some more.

S600 stock at the drags is quicker than the times I've seen for the new SL550.

Also, you do realize that even by the very conservative numbers MB lists the 2009 SL600 as quicker than the 2013 SL550?

The '13 SL550 is about half a second faster to 60mph than the '09 SLB600 (4.0 vs 4.5s).

You do realize you posted a report that uses the manufacturer data? I gave you the manufacturing data for both. MB lists the 600 as quicker/faster than the 550, actual drag runs indicated the 600 is quicker, many more articles, but you still have the opinion the 550 is quicker?

Get the 550, take it to the drag strip, and see what it can do. That will leave no doubt. Until we get some actual data that supports your claim, I will stick to the hard data that supports the 600 being quicker/faster then the 550.
