Roof up or down in garage?
Which is best for the mechanics of the roof?
Keeping it up or down while parked in garage?
Since our '09 SL600 is our secondary vehicle, which we acquired a week ago, I've been keeping it garaged with the roof down since I plan to only take it out in dry weather here in South Florida for the time being.

IMHO for the mechanics doesn't matter, it's either way. I keep mine up in winter and down in summer - whole summer. But as a prophylactic measure - so the roof is kept working in the summer - you can keep it up. Also easier to keep it clean with the roof up - less dust inside

Since you asked ... I suggest leaving the top closed when the car is parked in the garage. I drive my R230 daily and put the top down so long as the weather permits. But I close the top and the windows at the end of each day simply to keep out dust, insects, and anything else that may drop in uninvited. I sometimes leave the garage doors open during the day while the cars are in the garage, but, again, I keep the top up and the windows closed ... lest a neighbor's cat might decide to jump in and check things out. Whether top up or top down has any effect on the hydraulic open/close system ... I do not know. But I believe using the system frequently is better than using it infrequently.
