2003 sl500 leakage

I have a thin layer of oil, no drips ever, along the inside edge of the long cover panel that covers the underside of the car. It is starts at the midway length of the car, near the drivers exhaust catalytic converter and back for a ways. Just noticed it after car was jacked up on the front for a bit. Abc fluid level is ok. Any thoughts as to what this is?

update, could this be a/c drainage washing some goo rearwards and I am confusing it with a leaky hose?

Hi
Question: Is it oil or water(isch) (test sample in water, if it does not go in solution it is oil) If it is oil, what color is it?
red to brown/red: ATF
honey to brown: Engine oil
green to green/brown: ABC fluid

You might have a hose behind the front wheel failing...I just had one go

there has not been enough to collect, just a film. I will watch it carefully. ABC fluid level is static, not down a drop in many miles. I've been all over the underside checking stuff but all seems very dry. I plan to watch this carefully. I've cleaned up the film on the underpanel, drove many miles, and it has not returned. I will continue to watch this every day. I will let you know in a week or two if anything happens but I've done a lot of miles since a cleanup of the underpanel and so far so good. moretech

It's been awhile on my initial post and I finally got the whole long panel (drivers side) and many others down to check everything I could for leaks and found none. Under the panel it looks like, to me a least, 4 steel? lines dry as a bone not even dust on them. All the lines are carefully contained in brackets to resist any vibration or contact with each other. All connections are dry. I now suspect this was not a front to back leakage as I 1st thought but instead a back to front drainage as car has a forward slope of sorts. The residue in the panel goes back to the rear wheel well but not all the way forward. I now think at one time a former owner blew a rear line or did a rear repair of some sort that left abc fluid residue in the panel that was never dealt with. A small amount of fluid spilled over the edge of the panel when car was uneven. Anyway after many miles panel is still dry, no seepage or film and ABC is leak tight for sure. Absolutely no drips anywhere nor under rear wheel arch. That is bone dry also. moretech
