Spare Tire Inflation

Hello,

Has anybody had problems inflating the Vredstein spare tire, and if so what did you do? I've tried the onboard compressor and that didn't work, so I took the tire to a gas station and the mechanics tried that as well. I ended up buying a used one and that doesn't work either(with the compressor), so I figure it must just be me. I've made sure the valve is screwed on tightly enough to depress the valve stem, and it sounds like air is actually coming where the tire's rubber meets the rim. I searched the forums here and didn't see anything, but if there is can someone direct me to it? I'm also having problems with my S550 so on to post there as well!

Thank you!

When i used mine it inflated without any problems. Connected the compressor and started pumping air. If the air is coming by the rim it seems like it's a bad spare tire. They do go old with time, either from heat, cold or other causes. Not sure what can be done. Your best shot is to take it to a tire store/shop, see if they can help with anything. Dealer would be the last resort.

Regards

Thank you for the prompt reply. What you suggested as being the culprit is what I feared, but at least that makes sense.

If the bead is unseated from the rim, I would take it to a place such as Discount tire and have them inflate it with a high volume air supply--that will allow a person to manipulate the tire to the wheel and get it seated and pressurized. After that, let the air out and the bead should stay seated. The little compressor in the trunk doesn't have enough volume.
