1siksl: Building my beast!
Hello everyone I'll let the pictures do the explaining!
Starting with the before and after
and currently
The original car started as a 2005 SL500 bought from a California Auction, heres from the day I received it!
That night I couldn't help but tint the center of the taillights
The following weeks i purchased the facelift 3rd brake light along with getting the windows tinted!
from there Carbon fiber Mirrors and SLS inspired shift knob
Here are a couple pictures with the car I sold to build the SL
Then the start of the biggest change I began to recieve parts for the Suhorovsky Design SR66 body kit!
Started with the easiest part, the spoiler to fitting the kit all the way to paint!

Wow. You did a beautiful job and the images are very helpful to me. I am getting close to doing a body kit on an SL63 to take it to "Black" trim. It looks like that body kit went on with only minimal fitting. Do the rear "flares" fit over the existing sheet metal, do you need to cut away the metal underneath? Hard to tell how that went together from the images. Are the materials robust, strong and well fitted? Do the stock wheel well liners still fit properly? And, do you mind telling us what the SR66.1 Kit costs. Suhorvsky is under the naive opinion that making people call for a price leads to more sales.

Thank you BlownV8! I have engine swap plans I just needed any r230 as a Donor and this one was super clean! The SR66 badging represents the kit model so if anyone searches Mercedes SR66 they will find it and the Black Series Badge came with the Black series headlights. Figured it fits it well since the headlights are from a Black Series SL65 and the body kit is made after the SLS Black Series. No worries the AMG part will be changed to what represents the engine that will be going in and in the AMG font. =)

Looks familiar. Very nice job. You did a much better job on the panel gaps at the front compared to mine. The front was very difficult to deal with but maybe they have improved the fit over the last 18 months. It is a stunning kit and I think updates the R230 to a more modern look.

Can you please help a fellow SL enthusiast and forum member?
Thank you Doc! It was fairly simple other then the rear 1/4's! If you are interested in a kit from Suhorovsky Design, let me know I can get you a good deal on one of theirs! All the lines of the kit were straight forward and went right together but that what you get when you pay for it. I trimmed about 2 inches of the old 1/4 off so i can get maximum wheel tuck for car shows. Then for molding the 1/4 on I used stuff called Panel Bond from 3M and took a grinder to the spots that meet up with each other. I have more pictures of how I put the 1/4s on I can send you. Suhorovsky Design made the panels fit the stock liners perfectly which was a surprise, I'm use to cheap kits that didn't include that. The panels are defiantly strong I have bottomed out on them alot since its been lowered with the wheel setup. I know they have the kit listed on ebay for about 6500 but if you email them you can get a good deal where I emailed them and paid for sea shipping which is half the cost of air freight. After converted to usd I want to say it was about 5700 shipped
I'd appreciate if you respond to my PM. Thanks much in advance!

350 SL, R230 - 300 SL, R129 - 1964 Corvette Sting Ray Sport Coupe - Porsche 911 Twin Turbo (sold)
That is one great looking car
The rims and tires match the car perfect and the dimension of the rims and tires build perfect both on the front and rear
I like carbon a lot because of the light weight but i would paint every carbon part on my car the same color as the rest of the car
As i said this is one great looking car
How was the fit of the parts? Also how did you do the rear flares?

1. Do all wide-body kits for R230 provide only flared fenders, and not full rear quarter panels?
2. Do all those kits require cutting OEM sheet metal?.....you can't undo that!!
3. Front and rear fender liners...some builds seem not to have them...and looks crappy with painted color on inside of wheel well........what is recommended?
4. The SR 66 on this thread looks great......but I'm going more for true BS look...........TC Concepts looks best to me, by far..........any comments?
