New owner, pretty happy so far

Proud new owner of a 2004 SL500, gun metal grey, charcoal interior, 82k miles, designo edition, all options except distronic. Except for a little minor wear on the driver bolster, the interior shows zero wear, it's like a new car. Except for the bottom side of the front spoiler, the paint is like new. Clear coat is wearing off the 2 pieces on the right and left of the rear window.
Mechanically?? There is a vibration in the engine when parked and revving past 2k. Also a vibration when driving just before it shifts gears. Buzzing/Droning noise up to 2k revs then engine drowns out noise. With a little research sounds like I may need engine mounts, transmission mount and possibly an A/C drive pulley or maybe a pulsation damper, still need to check out exactly where the noise is coming from.
I've been looking for awhile and I think $11,800 was a dern good deal.

Yes I agree with all 3 of your assessments. If no history those will cure 80% of vibration. Pulsation damper is likely the buzzing vibration in park.

Enjoy.

Yep, clean title, all the maint records, carfax, had all the manuals/with cd's, all the tools, windscreen with leather cover, both keys, even two new batteries installed. The car really does look like new. The gentlemen listed the car on craigslist only 1 week before he was moving to California, so I believe he priced it to sell, and sell it did.

Is that color code 755? If so, that's "Tenorite Gray" a.k.a. "Steel Gray" and the same color as mine. It's an interesting color as it can look gray or sometimes even a hint of blue. Very nice!

The owner said it was gunmetal grey. The data card shows the color code as C041. Did some quick searching but couldn't find the color name.

Looking at the 2004 brochure, it must be Graphite. Designo only came in graphite, silver and espresso according to the brochure. Don't know if the paint is called graphite, but it is the graphite edition.

Nice find, and one heck of a deal!
While under your car, take a look at the lower control arm inner bushings under the engine. If cracked, replace soon.
Not sure if you're up to speed on maintenance, but if the trans, diff or ABC fluid has not been changed, you should do that now along with filters.
Have fun with your new steed.

Is there a website somewhere that shows you the codes? I used a russian one before and it wasn't working for me now.

Changed the transmission mount. Be nice if all the jobs were this cheap and easy. Rides smooth as silk now. Looks like the old one gave up on life. Old left, new right.

I have EPC and would be glad to pull your data card. Or, you can try this site:

http://www.auto-parts.spb.ru/cat/cat...&client=dr2000

Any yes, that rear mount was definitely due for replacement. I've done it on my C240 and CLK550 and after about 70K miles, they look like that.

What site are you talking about? I'm interested, if you don't mind sharing

And can't you renew your access on EPC?

Regards

Here's your data card:

http://benzbits.com/datacard/wdbsk75f34f073762.pdf

As for the Russian site, it is, well, in Russian! But with Google Chrome, it works pretty well. You just out your VIN in the blank and click the red button. If your VIN is in the database, you'll get a page with a button on the top panel, far right. After translation, it will be labeled "Information Map". Click that, and the data card is opened in a new window.

Oh, and I don't know if the online EPC gives out data cards. I have a locally installed copy of EPC in my SDS (Star Diagnosis) and it does.

Great, thanks for that!
Ah yes, didn't see the translate button there on the top. Does have a little gibberish in it but looks mostly good.

Ghostty,
The russian site is the link Rudeney has in post #12.

I have now renewed my EPC subscription.
The online EPC does show the datacard.
The online version shows:
R07 LIGHT ALLOY WHEEL 10-HOLE DESIGN 17" ALL-ROUND

Your version is different and shows the right one:
R07 LA - 18" 5 HOLE DESIGN TURBINE, W/ MIXED TIRES
