ABC-Rear Strut Complication
My 05 SL500 has had its fair share of repair issues. For the second time in 30 months I've replaced the ABC pump. This required a rodeo process and system flush. In the process, the dealer told me that my one of my rear struts was leaking and the other showed signs.
I replaced all the above and when I drove the car back home I noticed a slight rubbing sound coming from the rear, sort of a quiet screeching sound as the car adjusted to the dips in the road. No malfunction lights, just this annoying sound. I lived with this for a couple of days and then returned to the dealer complaining about the sound.
They originally suspected the struts but after a couple more days of debate, they concluded that my valve block was failing. This seemed weird since they just used this block to rock the car in rodeo mode to flush the ABC.
I have a iCarsoft multi-system scanner and have now gone through all ABC related systems checks and all seems well. The car doesn't dip, no puddles on the floor, and the manual suspension level control button works just fine.
I'm not buying the valve block diagnosis just yet... a $4100 repair.
Any idea what this sound might be?

May be suspension bushings being tightening in the extended, not compressed, position. This would bind them up and cause a squeak. Could also be something like the new shock boot rubbing on the car.
I'm not buying the valve block explanation. Don't pay unless the dealer guarantees it fixes the problem. He won't, or he'll find the real problem and charge for both.
