What's leather?

2013 SL550. Other than seats, what's real leather in the interior?
Stupid question I know, but I'm getting different answers from the dealer.

Thanks

2013 is an R231, so you might try that forum. But, in the MY2012 R230, its the seats, dash, center armrest, and door panels except for the armrests (and of course any surface that is obviously plastic).

It's been a while for me but is that true for the 2011/12 model?
As far as I remember, the standard SL has the seats, center armrest and door handles in leather. The dash as well as the door panels, rear interior panels, roll-over bar and hard-top cover in MB-Tex.
A SL600 or Designo model had everything covered in Nappa leather.

Did they have the dash/doors covered as well for those years?

The dealer presentation guide states, "Rich leather upholstery hand-fitted to the
two seats as well as the dash, console, doors, armrest, roll bar and rear cabin
walls,"

Nice. Sounds they added that as a free option. Earlier years didn't have that and neither the 2013 R231. They have MB-Tex again for everything but the seats, center armrest, door handles...

Actually, I checked back to 2004 (the earliest version I have) and they all say the same thing. Having said that, I have found plenty of inconsistencies in these presentation guides.

Thanks for the info! So the MB guide is definitely wrong as SL's never had a leather dash, etc. It may still be that MB threw that in for the last model year or so as they have been in the habit of including prior MY chargeable options as base options.

The only way to get full leather was the SL600, SL65 (not 63) or any SL with the optional Designo package...
