How are you getting on with the purchase?

I've had 5 SL's and love this model, but only took out an extended warranty once for a 2 year period, and it was never used.

I was sold into it by a bunch of scary stories which I now know are typical in insurance sales. In truth only a small handful of problems outside the rather strict criteria of the document will apply.

Some owners have suggested it's better to put a sum aside for any problems. I'm on the other side of the fence which is prepared to take the risk and not use a warranty. I've had a number of potentially problematic vehicles, including a Range Rover, Bentley Cont GTs, the SLs and a number of Lexus SUV's, and had no problems.

While this is not the answer to your question, maybe it will give you some thoughts before buying it.
