Looking at buying a 2008 sl550
I went and test drove a sl550 today. it has a few issues and if they fix it they want 22k, as is they want 19. I'm thinking a bit lower offer.
problems it has
#1 the top is down and won't go up. but when you open the trunk it works correctly.
#2 the sport mode button doesn't make it switch to sport mode on the dash
#3 alignment is shot and needs one done and needs new tires. going on the rack tomorrow to make sure nothing is worn out.
#4 and 5 are cosmetic, chrome flaking off of the wheels and front air dam has been folded on a curb

I assume you are in the USA, so look at cargurus.com and see if $22K is a good price given the mileage, your geographic regions ad with everything in working condition. Personally, #2 concerns me more than #1. The top system is probably a bad switch or hydraulic cylinder, but #2 could be a bad transmission, shifter, or cluster, and all of those are pretty expensive.

It seems to shift all right, I manually ran it thru all the gears and flogged it a bit. But it definitely does not feel like it shifts as fast as my clk55 I had
